4 Portuguese brands that focus on sustainable fashion

The fashion industry is one of the most polluting in the world and talking about sustainability has become almost indispensable in the field. Educating both businesses and consumers is the challenge of the moment and everyone is talking about it. Check out four Portuguese brands that focus on sustainable fashion.

Näz

With timeless, minimalist pieces, made of organic fabrics and with a national label, the brand was created by Cristiana Costa in 2016. Its production ranges from linen jackets to lyocell shirts. Women’s and men’s clothing are mostly non-patterned, with simple cuts and light tones. At the brand site, you can find information about each material used, as well as care tips so your product does not wear out and lasts even longer.

Daniela

If you love vibrant colors and intense prints, the brand signed by Daniela Duarte will get you. Reusing fragments of fabric, the creator, who calls himself a slowmaker, produces bold pieces that run away from minimalism. This way, Daniela prevents the tissues, mostly synthetic, remain as pollutants in the world.

Conscious Swimwear

For those who are already setting up the summer wardrobe, the newly released brand Conscious will make your next beach trip even more fashionable. The company works with econyl, a nylon fiber that is produced from plastic waste found in the ocean, mainly from fishing nets. The pieces have a simple design, with colors like military green and black, but their prints create a perfect contrast with this simplicity.

Balluta

With footwear for all occasions, Balluta is a vegan brand designed in Portugal, in a family factory. Its models range from boots to mules, thus adapting to various styles of women. In addition, the company believes in the circular economy and also has a manifesto in its website that includes such topics as “we believe that fashion transcends seasons” and “advocate conscious consumption”.
