At the end of January, the results of the ‘Table Marked Awards’ were announced distinguishing the ‘10 Chefs of 2018‘ in Portugal. The ceremony, which took place at the Ritz Four Seasons Hotel in Lisbon, featured a group of 208 judges composed of culinary lovers, winemakers, chefs, restaurant owners, journalists, and other professionals. Meet the winners:
1th – João Rodrigues
The great winner of the evening was João Rodrigues, chef of the Feitoria restaurant at the Altis Belém hotel, repeating the achievement of the previous two years.
2th – José Avillez
One of the greatest icons of the Portuguese gastronomy, Jose Avillez – Belcanto’s chef – could not be out of this list. In addition to a second place on this list, Avillez was also awarded the 10-year commemorative special prize for the ‘Marked Table Awards’ for being the chef who was awarded the most – 6 times.
3th – Henrique Sá Pessoa (Alma)
Chef and presenter of a gastronomic program on TV, Henrique Sá Pessoa accumulates praise in front of his restaurant Alma. In addition to his two Michelin stars, Henrique ranks third in this list, ascending 3 positions over last year.
4th – Hans Neuner (Ocean)
Also awarded with two Michelin stars, the Austrian Chef Hans Neuner found in the Portuguese cuisine the recipe of success. Under the command of the restaurant Ocean at the Vila Vita Resort Algarve, Hans guarantees his privileged position in this list.
5th – Vasco Coelho Santos
Ascending 4 positions with reference to last year, Chef Vasco Coelho Santos – who was once trainee of Chef José Avillez – takes fifth place in the ranking for his impeccable work at the Euskalduna Studio.

6th – António Galapito, from the restaurant Prado (was also awarded as Most Promising Chef of the Year)
7th – Alexandre Silva, from the restaurant Loco
8th – Leonel Pereira, from the restaurant São Gabriel
