The “Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams” exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London is a huge success! Everybody’s talking about it and the famous Berkeley Hotel has created a special commemoration to the exhibition – with a taste of afternoon tea.
That’s right! The hotel’s coffee shop, Prêt-a-Portea, has transformed the iconic designs of the brand into cakes, biscuits and teas. The place, famous for always get inspiration from the world’s biggest brands, has already tried themes such as the collections of Gucci, Valentino, Miu Miu, Fendi, and others.
Now the kitchen brought references like the Junon Dress, which was worn in Le pré Catalan in Paris by Theo Graham in 1949, and also the Bar Jacket, who has become an icon of the brand since he went to the catwalk in 1947 as part of the ‘New Look’.
In this “collection”, the most famous dresses of the brand were reinterpreted in cake shapes, so beautiful and delicate that is even pitiful to eat. The beloved red velvet flavor became the famous Lady Dior handbag 1995, when the first lady of France, Bernadette Chirac, gifted the beloved Princess Diana with a model.
You can also taste a delicious chocolate mousse inspired by the classic Miss Dior 1949. The famous J’Adore, created by Maria Grazia Chiuri, has become a vanilla biscuit with icing. There are several incredible options!
If you prefer to eat something salty, there are snacks on the menu like sandwiches and canapes, to make the experience even more complete.
For the English Harper’s Bazaar, the house chief Mourad Khiat says: “It was important for me to respectfully mimic the timeless and iconic fairytale dresses of Monsieur Dior using ingredients that best celebrate these beautiful and opulent creations.” Do you want more reasons to go?
