We are in re-readings time! After Fendi released its new Baguette and Dior rocked the world with its Saddle, now it’s Tod’s turn to reinterpret his iconic D-Bag. Famous for its timelessness, the piece was one of the favorites of Princess Diana. The new model, created in partnership with Irina Shayk, was entitled D-Styling and everyone is talking about it.
This is not the first time the bag is being reinterpreted by the brand. Certainly, Tod’s considers it the flagship of the company, as the first version of the accessory (used by Princess Diana) was released in 1997. However, in 2005 the brand released the redesigned model with lines more relaxed than the original.
In 2009, the bag got a new shape, this time more round. Just 5 years later, the brand released D.D.Bag, with its design inspired by the previous model. In 2014, the bag was released again, but this time with a bolder model in a cube shape. And in 2019 we finally got to D-Styling, the current version.
In the new design, the piece gained a shape more like to its first version, being more rigid than D.D. Bag, for example. However, unlike expected, it did not have a super-formal style again. Its straight lines came into harmony with the more rounded features, inspired by the wings of a butterfly.
In addition, the D-Styling bag will be made available in three sizes (mini, small and medium), different finishes including skin, suede and engraved skin), and shades ranging from timeless brown to bright yellow.
For the new release, Irina Shayk got into the game and participated in the project since the redesign of the bag. “The first thing I’ve always associated with Tod’s is reliable timelessness,” says the model for Vogue UK. No wonder the piece has big fans like Julianne Moore, Cindy Crawford, and Reese Witherspoon.
