More and more brands have invested in sustainable practices as well as consumer awareness. Salvatore Ferragamo decided to delve into this universe and just announced a new exhibition of the brand, which links fashion to sustainability.
Designed by Stefania Ricci, Giusy Bettoni, Arabella S. Natalini, Sara Sozzani Maino and Marina Spadafora, the exhibition entitled “Sustainable Thinking” takes place at the Salvatore Ferragamo museum in Florence, to explore green fashion through works by contemporary art and experimentation of alternative materials.
The exhibition will also show a retrospective through original shoes developed by the creator of the brand between the decades of 1920 and 1950 kept in the historical archives of the brand. The most interesting thing is that since that time they had used materials such as hemp, cellophane and fish skin, which are being worked nowadays by great designers looking for a more sustainable thinking. In celebration of the event, the brand still recreated 5 models of shoes in honor of the founder of the brand.
It will also be shown pieces from Ferragamo itself, recent experiments from other companies that deal with recycling techniques and other approaches related to sustainability and the environment.
For those who want to meet the exhibition, the good news is that it will be on display until March 8, 2020, giving a good time for all interested people to visit.
