Closed since 2001, the TWA Flight Center, located at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, was the setting chosen by Louis Vuitton for its Resort 2020 collection. The space, which became famous for the film “Catch Me If You Can” was reopened as the catwalk for the fashion brand and soon it will reopen as a hotel. Nothing more iconic for a brand that started selling travel trunks, right?
With a strong reference to the 1980s, the Resort collection was inspired by the comings and goings of the travels, the clothing featured elements inspired by the New York city’s Art Deco architecture, as well as troops from Wall Street and Gotham City. Nicolas Ghesquière talked about it “As a Frenchman, I have no problem following the of New York’s cliché.” If the big apple makes your heart beat stronger, there is no doubt that this collection will too.
For those who aren’t afraid to dare, the catwalk was a great show of remarkable pieces. We found pieces that delivered marked shoulders, puffed-sleeve, high waist trousers, batwing sleeves, bubble skirts and touches of intense colors such as cobalt blue and fuchsia. If your vacation demands a striking look, Louis Vuitton needs to be in your bag.
Capes were in season too, which refer us directly to the super heroes, with the vibration of a catwoman-ish skullcaps, elaborate prints and brocades, which translated the reference in Art Deco and detached silhouettes, which involved miniskirts and motorcycle jackets.
