Exhibition in Paris brings together 200 photos of Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe was a remarkable woman! The actress, model and singer was one of the greatest sex symbols of the 20th century and to this day influences people from all over the world. After all, she was a person far ahead of her time. Who has never heard of hers “Happy Birthday Mr. President” song coming out of a cake in Madison Square? It is through these moments – and charisma and sensuality – that, almost 57 years after her death, the icon gains a new exhibition in Paris.

Divine Marilyn as the exhibition is called, at the Galerie Joseph, will gather works from three photographers: Sam Shaw, Milton Greene and Bert Stern, who immortalized Monroe at different times in her life through almost 200 photographs and documents. The exhibition, which is for the first time in France, has become an obligatory stop for those who want to meet unpublished photos or revive the most iconic pictures of the actress.

The exhibition will be divided into three parts and separates a space for each photographer. The Sam Shaw room features several clicks of the pin-up’s private life, including her daily life as a wife. In this space 50 photos will be presented, mixing simple images of Marilyn day to day as well as iconic clicks like the one of the American in a white dress in front of the subway.

At the Milton Greene´s space we find famous and powerful photos of Monroe, like the click that she is dressed as a dancer. A work full of delicacy and elegance, Greene managed to show the different faces of Marilyn, who was able to change character in a natural way.

In the last room, Bern Stern will be exposed the last photo session of the actress, who was clicked by him to Vogue in 1962, a few days before her disappearance. This shooting took 3 days and 2571 clicks, which involved images of Marilyn even without makeup, which were barred by her, who always worried about the control of her image.

The exhibition will be open between July 9 and September 22, 2019. Is it time to schedule your next trip to Paris and immerse yourself in the Monroe universe? We think yes!
