Karl Lagerfeld marked an era! Famous as the “fashion kaiser”, he was a revolutionary, created iconic pieces, cast trends and even after he passed away he is still a name of great impact. There’s nothing more natural than, after 54 years contributing to Fendi, the Roman label wishes to remind him. After an emotional tribute in the last Milan fashion week, the brand announces two more shows dedicated to the designer.
“It was probably the greatest collaboration that ever existed between a designer and a house, so he leaves an incredible legacy at Fendi,” said Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH, at the company’s annual general meeting.
The first show will be haute couture and will take place in Rome, an important city in the history of Fendi. In it, the most iconic models created by Lagerfeld for the brand will be reprised. The exact location of the event has not yet been announced, but it is worth remembering that the brand financed the restoration of the Fontana di Trevi, where its 90-year-old runway was held in August 2016.
Regarding the second presentation, announced the day after the first, will take place at the Powerlong Museum in Shanghai on May 31st. The museum has 23,000 square meters dedicated to contemporary Chinese and international art.
“Fendi has chosen Shanghai and the Powerlong Museum, to stage its first ever joint Men and Women collections to honor Karl Lagerfeld’s legacy. Fendi and China have a special relationship, since the show on the Great Wall in 2007, and we are proud to showcase this unique moment in this magic country, “said Serge Brunschwig, CEO of Fendi.
The house also reveals that it “will celebrate Karl Lagerfeld’s legacy, his unmatched creativity and his 54-year collaboration with the Roman house.”
