Meet Alentejaninha, a Francesinha’s cousin

If you are a fan of francesinha, a typical dish of Porto, you will love the gastronomic novelty created by chef Miguel Marçalo, in charge of the new restaurant Intimista in Lisbon. The northern dish was reinvented and even got a new name, Alentejaninha, as it brings the charms of the Alentejo cuisine in its assembly.

The popular saying is that ‘a true Francesinha has to be made and eaten in the north’, but how to bring the Alentejo flavor to the dish without undoing the charm that only traditional gastronomy has? Marçalo, who is a Francesinha lover, has found the perfect balance!

Its new version is made with Alentejo bread and stuffed with black pork, black pudding, ham, farinheira (typical sausage) and some other secret ingredients that give a flavor that only a good chef can create. It is worth remembering that all this is from Alentejo, the only thing that remained original to the northern dish is the sauce, that speaking the truth: it is irreplaceable!

The dish is already available at the restaurant Intimista for € 11.50. Open since November of last year, the restaurant also has other dishes with the typical Alentejo pork, in addition to a tasting menu with regional food.
