Postcards from the future: Louis Vuitton creates digital storefronts

Celebrating the arrival of its Spring/Summer 2019 collection, Louis Vuitton is releasing a new project, which is based on a technological action, entitled “Postcards From The Future”. In all, 12 stores around the world will receive digital storefronts.

Since February, Louis Vuitton stores from major cities such as Paris, London, Milan, New York, Los Angeles, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Beijing have received the action created by the artist and stage designer Es Devlin under the artistic direction of Nicolas Ghesquière.

The initiative works like a postcard in real time that takes us to a future reality. In this way, each storefront shows a different city and get in tune with the collection, which has a futuristic and modern style.

The videos shown in the stores are by American videographer Mike Winkelmann, known as “Beeple.” He had already worked for the brand, having his works stamped in the Summer 2019 collection.

“My main goal was to give an alternative view of the future, which is not the worst as we often see in sci-fi movies,” states Beeple, who also says “while there is still a long way to go, I feel humans are progressing toward a better future.”

The storefronts can be found in places such as the Champs-Élysées and Vendôme in Paris, New Bond Street in London, Fifth Avenue in New York, Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles and Montenapoleone in Milan. If you’re thinking about going to one of these cities, worth setting a time to visit the stores!
