The 3 most outstanding museums in Europe

For art lovers, visiting museums is one of the great attractions of travels. They tell stories of generations and are able to inspire anyone, whether in a modern or medieval style, impressionistic or classic. If you have not already planned your destinations for 2019, these museums may be the ideal stop for your next vacation.

Fontevraud Abbey – Anjou – France

Founded in 1011 by the itinerant pastor Robert de Arbrissel, the abbey was one of the largest monastic cities in Europe, being the cradle and tomb of several members of Anglo-French royalty, such as Aliénor de Aquitaine, Henry II, and Richard Lionheart. The current museum impresses with the grandeur of its buildings, which refers to the past of Europe, its purpose is “the defense, development, stimulation, and promotion of the Fontevraud Abbey”.

Louisiana – Copenhagen – Denmark

The modern art museum of Louisiana is considered a great modernist work of Danish architecture. Planned by Jørgen Bo and Wilhlem Wohlerteu, its design balances the late 1950s with minimalist modernism. As if its glass corridors – which give more natural light and breadth – were not enough, the view of its gardens is to the Baltic Sea, on the coast called the Danish Riviera, which flows directly into Sweden.

Guggenheim – Bilbao – Spain

Placed on the edge of the Nervión River, the modern art museum attracts tourists from all over the world for various aspects. The first is by the architecture – signed by Frank O. Gehry – which by far already attracts the look by its curved surfaces of titanium. Within the museum, there are 20 independent galleries, which make the visit to the site even more interesting because, different than expected, the environment does not pre-determine a script. Inside the museum, you can also find a giant dog, metal tulips and many other curious and fun works in permanent and temporary exhibitions.
