The most beautiful photos of Robert Doisneau are now in a book

Known for his street photographs depicting humor and love, Robert Doisneau has a new book, which was published along with an exhibition at the Musée Ixelles in Brussels. In this issue, which bears his name, were selected 164 photos that describe the work of the photographer from the beginning of his career until the time he rediscovered himself by using color images and unknown formats.

Written by Danielle Leenarts and Virginie Devillers, the book is divided into three categories. His photos address some of the themes the Frenchman liked to work on, such as daily beauty, Palm Springs and artist studios.

Among the selected images are rare clicks, such as those of summer in Palm Springs in 1990, and the most famous ones like Kiss by the Hôtel de Ville (1950), Self-portrait in Rolleiflex (1947) and The Brothers (1963). During the retrospective of Doisneau’s career, it is possible to know a little more about the history of great names in art, such as Picasso and Niki de Saint Phalle.

In addition to the images, the main features of his work and its importance for 20th-century photography, as well as the notion of realism poetry, can also be found within this issue.
