The new Vista Alegre collection comes straight from the Amazon

Inspired by the Lungs of the World, Vista Alegre and Casa Alegre in partnership with Bordallo Pinheiro launched its new collection, Amazônia, created with the aim of alerting to the preservation of the forest, a natural patrimony of humanity. “Knowing to preserve” was where the whole conception of the pieces arose, which unites the past, present and future.

To this end, ornaments were made by Ecoarts, a Brazilian non-profit association, to the eighteenth-century drawings by the naturalist Alexandre Rodrigues Ferreira, Philosophical Tours, which were reinterpreted by Vista Alegre and became 70 pieces stamped by maps, plants and animals.

The collection is the first time that the porcelain, crystal and glass of Vista Alegre joins the Bordallo Pinheiro faience and the stoneware pottery of Casa Alegre. Each of the three brands have different pieces, even though they belong to the same collection.

Vista Alegre focused on the Philosophical Travels of Alexandre Rodrigues Ferreira, while Bordallo Pinheiro sought a more naturalistic trait with organic designs, working textures, colors and shapes. And finally, Casa Alegre worked on stoneware products inspired by the colors and textures of plants.

Part of the proceeds will be reverted for the planting of fruit trees in cities, rural areas and indigenous villages of the Amazon.
